The film focuses on the commander of a battalion of partisan troops, during the latter days of World War II. This band of soldiers were responsible for locating the secret weapon’s facility where the Germans were developing their last hope for victory - the V2 missiles. We witness fighting on the battlefields of the Eastern Front, his survival in the snowy wastes of central Europe, the women and children murdered before his eyes, the rogue partisans he executed, his brilliant war tactics and the moment he chose to refuse an order, break into a German prison, and release a group of Jews sentenced to death. The film recounts not only how he found Hitler's doomsday weapon, but also himself.
