Howl DVD
Academy Award nominee James Franco (127 Hours) stars as the young Allen Ginsberg - rebel and chronicler of the Beat Generation. Set in 1957, the film recreates the infamous courtroom drama when Ginsberg's most seminal work Howl is on trial for obscenity. Stepping forward for the prosecution is Ralph Mcintosh played by David Strathairn and for the defence, smooth talking Jake Ehrlich, played by Jon Hamm (Mad Men's Don Draper). Interspersed with animation from Ginsberg collaborator Eric Drooker to depict the sexual references in Howl, the film veers from the comic to the absurd and highlights a memorable moment in America's moral history.
