From acclaimed director David Cronenberg comes a twisted tale of the dark secrets that lurk behind the closed doors of a celebrity obsessed Hollywood dynasty. Dr Stafford Weiss (John Cusack) made his fortune writing self-help books, but life with is overbearing wife Cristina (Olivia Williams) and thirteen-year old son, Benjie (Evan Bird), a child star fresh out of rehab, is anything but idyllic. When their estranged daughter Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) is released from a psychiatric hospital, she's determined to make it in Hollywood and befriends a wannabe actor-writer limo driver (Robert Pattinson) and becomes PA to the neurotic actress Havana Segrand (Julianne Moore). Before long, the lives of each member of the family begin to take a darker turn as the ghosts from their past return to haunt them.
