Veteran narcotics detective Eugene "Mack" McCanic (Morse) attempts to hunt down a young and seemingly harmless ex-con named Simon Weeks (Monteith). Convinced the criminal is still in debt to society, McCanic and his partner Floyd (Vogel) go against the law in order to catch Weeks. As chaos unfolds we begin to learn the truth about the cop's past as he creates mess after in an attempt to stage a manhunt to cover up his own dark secret.
