Eccentricities Of A Blonde Haired Girl DVD
This latest gem from the great Portuguese director Manoel de Oliveira deals with the perils of desire. In taking a very 19th Century story by the novelist Eca de Queiroz and setting it without alteration in the present day, Oliveria is able to play with narrative convention to produce a film of delicious irony. Macario falls for the blonde waving her fan in the window opposite, gains and loses fortunes in her pursuit, but to late discovers something disturbing about her character.
