Clay Liford writes and directs this teenage comedy drama. 15-year-old Neil (Michael Johnston) is an outsider at his Texas high school but finds solace in writing slash fan fiction, centred on the sci-fi hero Vanguard (Tishuan Scott) and his sexual adventures.
However, when his writing is discovered by his classmates Neil is humiliated and ridiculed for his stories.
But the incident also attracts the attention of Julie (Hannah Marks), a fellow slash writer, who encourages him to open up and share his writing with like-minded individuals.
Together, the pair head to the Houston Comic-Con and embark upon a journey of self-discovery as they come of age.
